Graphene & Samsung

Graphene is the thinnest but one of the strongest known materials. It is a substance composed of pure carbon, with atoms arranged in a regular hexagonal pattern similar to graphite, but in a one-atom thick sheet. It's highly conductive too and may one day replace Silicon in next-generation (tinier) microprocessors. Other applications could be flexible electronic screens, more efficient solar cells as well as multitude of applications in nanotechnology and nanodevices.

The number of commercial patents in Graphene have been going up since 2007. Samsung -- the celebrated competitor of Apple -- leads this trend with more than 400 graphene-related patents to their credit. If you are interested in putting your money in Graphene, Samsung could be a good long-term  play.

In country-related statistics, Chinese companies have grabbed most patents followed by American, South Korean and British companies.

No. There's no Graphene Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) ... as yet. But you may consider Powershares LUX Nanotech Portfolio (PXN) as an option for general investment in nanotechnology sector which will enjoy an overall gain if Graphene market surges ahead.
